We need to urgently raise £40,000 to enable us to send 300,000 books to Africa.
The shipping of books is a major part of our activity. Books collected from different sources are sorted and packed by volunteers are shipped in 20-foot sea containers that hold 20,000 to 25,000 units. It costs from £2,500 to £4,500 to send to a container load from the UK to the major seaports in Africa. The cost increases 2 fold for landlocked countries. You can sponsor a shipment of books to any particular country in Africa.
BAFA also ships books in pallets, ranging from £500 to £1500 depending on the particular part of Africa which the books are dispatched.
