Africa is such a vibrant continent, rich in culture and natural resources, yet impoverished due to the effects of war, famine, and poor living conditions, which has negatively impacted the well-being and welfare of many Africans. Book Aid for Africa was formed to address these issues through education and has received enormous support from institutions, organisations and individuals in the UK, who have donated both educational and financial resources enabling the shipment of books to several African countries.
“BAFA has introduced Know Africa – Love Africa Schools and Communities Shared Value Initiative (KALA-SAVI) to help advance the education of people in schools and local communities about African culture, customs and traditions, and increase their knowledge, understanding and appreciation of people from African descent” Dr Elewechi Okike, BAFA Founder and Chair.
As football becomes deeply ingrained in British culture, we run interactive workshops, informative presentations and engaging seminars, by showcasing and discussing individual African born players in each football league club. Through this initiative, our goal is to educate and enlighten a younger generation and increase their understanding, appreciation and tolerance of other cultures, all communicated through their love of football.
What Happens Now?
Schools and communities have a better understanding of racial issues faced by different cultures
A deeper awareness and appreciation of other cultures
Increase awareness and understanding of African customs and traditions to improve community cohesion.
